Edge Coaster – a very thrilling Sky Adventure Experience
by webby on Apr.29, 2009, under Blog, Travel
I once imagined how it would feel to jump off the building… feel like flying but then surely I’ll crash myself to death. Haha! Thanks to Crown Regency’s latest ride, it gave me a 5-minute exhilarating experience to be on the edge of the tallest hotel tower in the country.

Edge Coaster
I didn’t really know what I was doing at that time, just sat and locked myself. At first it was a bit scary knowing that the ride was programmed to tilt 55 degrees once it started but then you can shift to your preferred angle.
Fun, fun, fun, it felt so good to move and be on the edge seeing the whole city.

One ride is good for 2 persons which cost 500php with an entrance fee of 380php. Photos cost 350php per cart, for our ride we had about 5 photos only, purchasing is not compulsory. But for sure, you will take it home in a CD to keepsake a one-of-a-kind sky experience adventure. Forgot to mention… once you finished the ride, you will also receive a certificate saying that you survived the edge coaster challenge! (image to follow

“Zest Air will take you there…”

Zest Air Plane
It’s my first time to fly with Zest Air and we tried it because of their lowest promo fare going to Cebu; 2-way tickets for 3 persons only cost us 2,400php.
In terms of its service, I didn’t really expect that it will be a good one. With the rate of 1 to 10; 10 being the highest, I would rate Zest Air with a 9. The plane is an old one but it is clean and everything looked good. The pilot’s way of flying is good and not scary. I would like to commend that they are prompt in schedule unlike Cebu Pacific which is most of the time delayed.
Also, they have better service with friendly flight attendants. On morning flights they distribute Manila Bulletin newspapers for the passengers to read while on board. Free Zesto juice and water are also distributed unlike in Cebu Pacific where foods are strictly being sold.

Free Zesto
In addition, if you’re scared in flying or you don’t have anything to do, you can make use of your time reading these signs in front of you… you won’t get bored and will have some good laughs with your plane-mates.
Abrochese El Cinturon Mentras Este Sentado (Fasten seat belt while seated) and Chaleco Salvavidas Debajo De Su Asiento (Lifevest under your seat), say it aloud, repeat a lot of times and with the accent. ;P

Note:
We didn’t really had a plan at first, we just noted all places to visit and then everything came into place in terms of proximity of the locations, time of the day, weather conditions, and means of transportation.
We rode a taxi, jeep, tricycle, and a trisikad just to get to these places.
We met a lot of different cebuanos, some are nice people, some are makulet, funny and most of the time they speak to us in Bisaya.
Cebu city is just like our Quiapo in Manila, busy streets, busy people on the streets selling stuffs, walking, begging for alms, and old structure of buildings, a lot of jeepneys, dirty roads, “buwaya” policemen and traffic anywhere. I can’t really say that it is a safe city but you should always be alert and aware of your belongings and people around you.

Looking for work in Singapore
by webby on Apr.09, 2009, under Blog, T-Files, Travel
It’s not easy to look for work and live abroad. Being in a foreign country and away from your family and friends, entails a lot of sacrifices and challenges along the way. When I went to Singapore to go job hunting, my views and thoughts about life really transformed. I had to quickly adapt to a new and different environment to survive, had to prepare myself – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually in whatever will happen. I’ll be honest, my dream resulted to failure, I wasn’t successful but everything happened for some reasons and this is a good learning experience for me.
I want to share some points which you can consider before taking the big risk in Singapore. Some tips to help you survive in your job hunting cause if you are really destined to be in Singapore then you will become successful.
1. IT background in educ and/or work is highly in demand. Sales jobs have a lot of openings.
2. Resume should be at least 3 pages with very detailed description of all your tasks. Write all activities that you did, be specific and brief.
3. Confidence is important in an interview.
4. It is good if you can speak or know their language – Chinese or Malay.
5. Remember that employers’ priority is their locals, so you really have to come out smart and strong.
6. Before going to Singapore, start submitting your resume online.
7. Companies would call you for an interview or exam. Make sure to have your hand phones with you at all times.
8. Walk-ins are not encouraged unless a company advertised for a one-day hiring of walk-in applicants.
9. Having an employment certificate or a visa to look for a job is good. This will be useful when there’s a need to extend your stay after the 30 days tourist visa.
10. Never work for a company without proper working visa. It is illegal and at the same time, the company can take advantage of you.
11. Learn to understand Singlish, it is a bit hard at first but you just need very attentive ears…
12. Expect hard questions during interviews; know your purpose and goals in having a career abroad.
13. Be patient and optimistic. Wait patiently for calls and don’t stop submitting resumes online.
14. Be early in any interview. Leave the house early. Getting lost is part of it. I can’t remember how many times I got lost – rode the wrong bus, took the wrong route, can’t find the building and just took the cab… Grrrr…
15. Expect to meet different people. Just be open and friendly.
And lastly, to keep praying, don’t lose hope easily but be ready to take the next steps or have plan B if your initial plans didn’t work…
