Taoist Temple

Taoist Temple

Day 1 isn’t over yet, for we still managed to get to Taoist temple and thanks to my friend for accompanying us. We got a cab from Ayala Cebu; travel time was short, around 20 minutes or less. The Taoist temple is located inside the village of Beverly Hills, Cebu, cab or private car are the only means of transportation to get there.

If you’re a Chinese, a Taoist, definitely your visit will be fulfilling. Of course, we didn’t do any worship or anything but to take pictures of the beautiful structure and different designs of the temple. Luckily, the temple has been recently painted and so we were really fascinated by its lively colors. By the way, to reach the top, you will need to take flight of stairs, so it was a bit tiring for us after having a long day on the road. :(

On our way back, unfortunate events took placed – no cab available because it was already 6pm and all cabs have left the place. We didn’t have any choice but to walk ourselves out of the village. Honestly, the walk was so tiring because we were far from the entrance/exit point of the Beverly Hills, the roads were wide and just like a hill we went up and down… :( When we reached the main road, empty cabs seldom passed by, I think it took us 15 minutes or more before we got a ride. Feeling hot and tired, we just went back to our hotel to shower, rest and had our dinner.

Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary

by on May.09, 2009, under Blog, Travel

Our first stop – Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary, right after our lunch at Jollibee, our adventure began… we rode a jeepney along Colon st. with a sign – Basak, Pardo. The ride took us about 30-45 minutes, or maybe it seemed long because we really didn’t know where we were going… :P   and unfortunately, we missed the right stop and just rode another jeepney to go back and alight near Mcdo. From there, we rode a tricycle (30php – 10php each) and brought us to Macopa St. where the Jumalon’s house is situated. I didn’t expect the sanctuary to be a house, thought it was sort of a museum. Entrance Fees – 25php (kids) and 50php (adults). At first, I find it a bit pricey, seeing that it was just a house, but the tour was worthwhile, we had the daughter of Prof. Jumalon as our tour guide, she shared a lot of information about his father’s passion for butterflies, art and different studies they had about butterflies. I can assure you that you will really learn a lot from her and after you will have a new outlook on butterflies and really appreciate its beauty.

The tour consists of their butterfly garden (where we were able to get close and take pictures of butterflies – tip: wear perfume so butterflies will come to you), the egg, larva, pupa and caterpillar section (get to see how butterflies evolve), the butterfly collections (get to see the oldest, the largest, most beautiful, butterflies around the world and a lot more) and the art gallery (be amazed with Prof. Jumalon’s butterfly mosaics and paintings). Personally, I enjoyed the tour and  I was inspired by Prof. Jumalon’s great passion for butterflies and art that until his death he was still trying to finish a masterpiece. I even got teary-eyed appreciating all his masterpieces and realizing his dedication and hardwork in accomplishing them.

The Skywalk Extreme Challenge

by on May.02, 2009, under Blog, Travel

Are you bored of your everyday routine life?  Are you too stressed with work and people around you?

It’s time to do something different, forget about your problems, and walk your way to Crown Regency’s Skywalk Extreme Challenge.

Skywalk Experience

Skywalk Experience

The moment I stepped on the hotel’s 37th level outer-rim, my mind focused to ME, and only ME – gahd, I need to control myself, I need my sanity, and get out of here alive! It’s a good thing that I’m not afraid of heights but looking down really makes me feel dizzy. We had 15 minutes to stay up in the sky and survive the challenge. While we were there, I just savoured every moment – cool air, sunny weather, and magnificent view of the island. :) It was really exciting and I even loved when we were asked to sit on the edge… I was hoping to stay much longer but of course we can’t stay too long.  :(

one-of-a-kind adventure

one-of-a-kind adventure

This sky experience adventure definitely made my summer a memorable one. Got to do something different and prove to myself that I can do the challenge, thou a bit scared but  enjoyed every moment up in the sky. :) If you’re also up to a different kind of adventure, fly now to Cebu and take the Skywalk Extreme Challenge. Enjoy! :)

Edge Coaster – a very thrilling Sky Adventure Experience

by on Apr.29, 2009, under Blog, Travel

I once imagined how it would feel to jump off the building… feel like flying but then surely I’ll crash myself to death.  Haha! Thanks to Crown Regency’s latest ride, it gave me a 5-minute exhilarating experience to be on the edge of the tallest hotel  tower in the country. :)

I didn’t really know what I was doing at that time, just sat and locked myself. At first it was a bit scary knowing that the ride was programmed to tilt 55 degrees once it started but then you can shift to your preferred angle. :) Fun, fun, fun, it felt so good to move and be on the edge seeing the whole city. :)

One ride is good for 2 persons which cost 500php with an entrance fee of 380php. Photos cost 350php per cart, for our ride we had about 5 photos only, purchasing is not compulsory. But for sure, you will take it home in a CD to keepsake a one-of-a-kind sky experience adventure. Forgot to mention… once you finished the ride, you will also receive a certificate saying that you survived the edge coaster challenge! (image to follow :) )
