Boracay Foodies
by webby on Oct.08, 2010, under Blog, Food, Travel
Budget meals, famous fruit shakes, and dinner buffets, welcome to our Boracay food trips!
1st stop – Breakfast 1 – Hungry Monkey, located along D-Mall.
It offers the typical breakfast rice meals like Tocino, Tapa, Bangus and etc. Meals start from 65php and up. Food serving is very small, really disappointing. Taste is just okay. Price is unreasonable.
2nd stop – Breakfast 2 – Café del Sol, located at D-Mall.
Café del Sol, is the sister restaurant of Aria which is just situated beside it. It offers a variety of meals from a light and hearty meal, Continental breakfast to Filipino breakfast and a lot more.
We had their Filipino breakfast – Chicken longanisa, Tapa and Bangus. Complete meal comes with coffee/tea (which you can also upgrade) and fruit dessert. Food serving and taste is excellent. Meals start from 250php and up; expensive but worth the money.
3rd stop – Lunch/merienda – Jonah’s Fruit Shake & Snack Bar, located in Station 1
Known for its famous fruit shakes, a must stop for every tourist in Boracay. Shakes start from 85 and up. We had their Mango-Banana, Papaya and Choco-Banana shakes. It was really refreshing after a long walk by the beach at noon time. Yumyum, love their shakes!
We also ordered their special pizza, priced around 300php. Good taste and also yummy.
4th stop – Le Soleil’s dinner buffet, located along station 2
This was our best choice among the other restaurants which offered dinner buffets. Buffet price is at 396php with bottomless iced tea. There were enough food choices and different food stations.
Here’s the salad station…
… Seafood station…
and the Main course station…
Pasta station with a chef cooking on the spot… just have to tell him your preferred pasta ingredients and sauce….and he’ll cook it well…
5th stop – Real Coffee, located along station 1
We went here before leaving the island to bring home some Kalamsi muffins; their famous dessert… priced at 285php per box with 6 muffins. Muffins were really soft but tasted good, just find it super expensive; a small muffin at 47.50php.
We think Real Coffee is really over pricing and taking advantage of their name and foreign/local tourists. It would be good if they can offer a different price for the local tourists, a much reasonable one…
Boracay food tripping is FUN and there are more other new/old restaurants which offer great food and you can just check which ones are really worth your money.
Peanut Butter Company (PBCo.)
by webby on Sep.12, 2010, under Blog, Food
Arachibutyrophobia is the phobia related to the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth.
Welcome to Trip Ko Lang’s Fear Factor!
Yes, I’m afraid of eating peanut butter since I was a kid, I didn’t like its texture, taste and it sometimes makes me dizzy! For me peanut butter is Ewww!
Trip Ko Lang Challenge is to eat Peanut Butter Company’s unique peanut butter combinations on sandwiches, pasta and other food. This is my chance to face my fear of peanut butter, and so here’s my exciting encounter with peanut butter, peanut butter galore in every possible way it can be used and cooked.
We ordered their famous Marshmallow Peanut Butter sandwich, it was warm and you will love every bite of melted marshmallow and peanut butter. I love marshmallows, so thankful for this combination, my love and hate sandwich! Hehehe.
For pasta, we had the classic spaghetti, the cheapest and simplest pasta in the menu. Its sauce was made with Sun-dried Tomato Peanut Butter, yummy flavor, mild taste of peanut butter that is why I also enjoyed it.
BBQ Wings, another best-seller in Peanut Butter Company, topped with Chili Peanut Butter, just the right amount of spiciness. Again, I’m not into spicy foods but this was good and I had a lot of its wings.
The whole Peanut Butter challenge was great; I honestly didn’t expect that I would enjoy every food and change my attitude on peanut butter – I think I would want to eat here again and try other sandwiches and drink their tempting peanut butter shakes… yes, they even have peanut butter on their drinks…
Being amazed by the world of peanut butter that Peanut Butter Company has to offer, we bought one bottle of their White Chocolate Peanut Butter to share and spread the goodness of peanut butter at home…
Coffee Works
by webby on Jan.23, 2010, under Blog, Food
Do you ever get tired of drinking the usual Latte, Macchiato, Frappucino in your favorite coffee shop – Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Figaro, and etc. ? Do you sometimes find yourself in debt or beyond your budget because of spending too much just for a cup of coffee?
We discovered this fresh coffee shop located in Sky Garden, SM North Edsa — Coffee Works. Yes, their coffee really worked on us, we enjoyed every sip of our Mochamint Cappucino (115php) and Hazel Nut Truffle (120php) with its distinct flavor. Prices were also within the budget, we even had a taste of their best chocolate cake. Real yummy!
If you are not in the mood for over crowded coffee shops like Starbucks, Coffee Works is a new place to chill out. While having a coffee chat with your friends, you can even make use of Sky Garden’s free wifi. Cool!
Coffee Works started in Cagayan de Oro and has their first branch in SM North Edsa.

SereniTEA
by webby on Dec.27, 2009, under Blog, Food
After having a sumptuous meal and satisfying your food cravings, your palate will then want something light and soothing that can somehow help in digestion… will you go for a coffee or tea?
I must admit I’m really not a TEA person but when I tried Serenitea’s warm Hokkaido Milk Tea, it changed my outlook on having flavored/milk/special teas after meals…
I loved it!
Sipping Hokkaido Milk tea gave me a relaxing and soothing feeling… A real great help after a stressful day at the mall with so many shoppers and having a big satisfying dinner…
My friend ordered for Serenitea’s Strawberry Milk Tea with jelly, one of their best-sellers and I can say another good drink if you want your tea to be cold.
Serenitea offers different kind of teas – brewed, warm, cold, fruity, lattes, and milk teas. If you want the usual teas, you can go for the brewed and fruiteas but for the adventuresome, tease, tea latte and milk tea selections are worth trying. Another good thing about Serenitea is that you can select your own level of sweetness – ranging from no sugar to full sugar.
Serenitea is a must stop… if you want a drink that can relax the body, mind and soul.
…a cool place to have a light chat with a friend.
… the best solution for digestion after a heavy meal.
Starbucks New Coffee Jelly Drinks
by webby on Jul.04, 2009, under Blog, Food
Just a few days ago, Starbucks launched their new set of drinks – the Coffee Jelly Collection in 3 variants - Vanilla Dark Roast Coffee Jelly Caffe Latte, Dark Roast Coffee Jelly Frappucino and Caramel Dark Roast Coffee Jelly Frappucino with a tag line of Coffee in the Jelly and Jelly in your Coffee…
Being a Caramel Frap lover, I ordered the Caramel Dark Roast Coffee Jelly Frap. It tasted good, just like their other drinks but the coffee tasted much stronger and the jelly now is smoother and softer. I think I liked more the old coffee jelly which is more fun to chew.
